Consider the following when deciding on repairing or replacing your restaurant equipment:
If the repair is more than half the cost of a brand new appliance or piece of equipment, your best bet is to simply replace the broken appliance. If you can’t afford an entirely new appliance, see if there’re any rent-to-own or financing plans you can take advantage of.
Age
If the broken appliance or restaurant service equipment is an old and outdated model, it’s probably time for you to start saving up for a newer model. It’s better that you start saving up for something new before your current appliance breaks down. If the next breakdown is an expensive one, there’s no need for you to waste money on a repair that can be put towards a replacement.
Warranty
If the equipment is under warranty, you might not have to pay for the repair or replacement. In order to protect the warranty, make sure you have preventative maintenance performed on the appliance to keep it in good condition for as long as possible, otherwise you just might wind up paying for the replacement or repair anyway.
Current Condition
Depending on where you live, the climate conditions can play a big part in how long your appliances last. For instance, salty air in coastal regions can cause premature wear and tear in appliances, meaning you may find yourself having to repair your appliances more often. If you choose to replace the malfunctioning appliance, it more than likely will end up suffering the same fate. Consider having the appliance repaired first and see if there’s anything you can do to protect it from premature wear and tear.
