Your Guide to Buying the Right Convection Oven

Commercial convection ovens offer a number of distinct advantages over their traditional counterparts. The uneven heat distribution inherent with radiant ovens means that the potential for hot and cold spots in your food is ever present. Convection ovens apply uniform heat across all baked goods, ensuring that meats stay tender and juicy and delicate bakery items such as breads and pastries cook evenly. Plus, a convection oven allows you to optimize your baking times, allowing you to produce better food faster using less energy.

Special Aspects to Consider

Yet while the benefits of upgrading to a convection oven in your commercial kitchen may seem clear, it’s important to remember that not all convection ovens are created equal. Your choice of oven should be influenced by both the unique aspects of your kitchen and the specific tasks that you’ll need it for. Thus, as you begin your journey to buying the correct convection oven for your kitchen, keep the following things in mind:

  • Space: First and foremost, consider where you plan on putting the oven. If yours is a small kitchen or catering service that doesn’t often bake in bulk, a countertop model may be just what you’re looking for. If you need a larger floor model, remember that a gas oven will require more space to allow for adequate circulation.
  • Style: Convection ovens come in two different styles: gas and electric-powered. There are many who believe gas ovens to be the better option for baking. However, the fans that allow for the uniform heat distribution in convection ovens will still require an electrical connection. This need for dual energy sources could raise your utility costs.
  • Features: Finally, you should choose your oven with your menu options in mind. What you’ll be primarily cooking in the oven will determine which special features yours will need.

Almost as important as choosing the right commercial convection oven is selecting the right service provider to help keep yours operating at a high-level. Thanks for suggesting that we start by considering how much space we have and where we plan on putting the oven. It makes sense that you could easily get caught up with what you'll be cooking and forget to consider where. I learned a lot about how to choose a convection oven, so thanks for sharing!

It's good to know that considering where you put the oven is the first thing you need to do. My husband and I are planning on opening up our own restaurant in a couple of months, and we want to make sure that we can find the right oven for the kitchen. I'll make sure to keep these tips in mind as we search for an oven to get for our kitchen!

My cousin wants to open a bakery before the summer since cooking is her favorite hobby. She could really use your information on how she needs to consider the size of the kitchen to find out how much space she has for the oven. Since this is the case, I'll share this with her and help her go online to find ovens for sale that fit the size and type that she needs for the cooking she will do.
